Bowden is a South Carolina native, played at Furman and comes to Coastal after helping Memphis reach an NCAA Regional.
Jonathan Bowden is in his first season as assistant men's golf coach, joining the program in June of 2014.
Bowden, a native of Easley and a Furman graduate, spent the 2013-14 season at Memphis and helped the Tigers earn an at-large berth to the NCAA Raleigh Regional.
Prior to his stint at Memphis, Bowden was an assistant for the 2012-13 season with both the men's and women's programs at Washington and Lee University. He helped the men's squad to seven top 10 finishes, including four top fives. Bowden helped Teddy Corcoran (first team) and Patrick Clossin (third team) earn All-ODAC honors.
On the women's side, Bowden was a part of school history in the Generals' first year of collegiate competition. The women's program carded five top 10 showings, including a third-place showing at the ODAC Championship. Two Generals - Rachael Wright (second team) and Sara Moir (third team) - earned All-ODAC recognition.
Bowden began his collegiate coaching career after holding positions at several golf clubs and camps. Notably, he served as an assistant coach in 2010 at his high school alma mater, Easley High School, working with the varsity and junior varsity programs.
From 2005-09, Bowden attended Furman and was a member of the Paladins golf program. A four-year letterwinner, Bowden carded 12 top 20 performances, including two top 10 finishes. Bowden served as team captain his junior and senior seasons.
Bowden graduated from Furman in May of 2009 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
