Jeremy Alcorn, who spent the last three seasons on the Texas Tech staff, was named Coastal Carolina University assistant men's golf coach in August 2017.

Alcorn helped Texas Tech to three NCAA Regional appearances (2015, '16 and '17) and the Red Raiders reached the NCAA Championship in 2015 after placing second in the NCAA Lubbock Regional that season.

"I am beyond excited and grateful to join the close-knit Chanticleer family," Alcorn said. "I greatly respect Coach Garren and look forward to working with him as Coastal Carolina returns to winning championships and being a mainstay on the nation scene where it belongs.

"I would like to thank Greg Sands and Kirby Hocutt for the opportunity to start my coaching career as well as thanks to Coach Garren and all those involved at Coastal Carolina for the opportunity to continue my coaching career in an area known globally as one of the golf capitals or the world. Last, thanks to my wife and family for all your support. We are excited to call Coastal Carolina home."

In 2017, the Red Raiders produced three PING All-Central Region Team picks in 2017 and had eight players named Academic All-Big 12. In Alcorn's three years in Lubbock, not only did Tech earn NCAA three postseason berths, but the team finished third, second and fourth, respectively, at the Big 12 Championships.

"The addition of Jeremy is huge for our program." Garren said. "He is respected both for his work on the course and on the recruiting trails which is something he learned from Greg Sands, who one of the best coaches on the collegiate level. He brings experience that our student-athletes can trust and will make our recruits take notice. Those qualifications not only will compliment me, but free me up to work on other areas within our program in order to advance us sooner than first expected. Jeremy joining our family continues to prove Coastal's commitment to the men's golf program and prove our shared commitment to be successful."

Before entering his coaching profession, Alcorn played on the Adams Golf Pro Tour. In fact, he was medalist in his first professional tournament on the Adams Tour, winning the 2009 Jamie Hilton Hillcrest Children's Golf Classic at Twin Rivers Golf Club (Waco, Texas). He won the tournament on the first playoff hole to finish at 9-under par (70-70-68-71=279).

Afterwards, Alcorn worked a couple of seasons as a caddie on the PGA Tour, most notably for Brice Garnett.

Alcorn was a four-year letterwinner at Baylor from 2003-07. He won four tournaments, including three his sophomore year (2004-05) to tie a school record for individual victories in a season while being named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month twice that season. His 71.76 stroke average led the Bears that season and was third in the Big 12 Conference to help him earn first team All-Big 12 honors and be an honorable mention PING All-America selection.

He finished his collegiate career with 11 top 5 finishes (third-best on the Baylor all-time list), 17 top 10 finishes (fourth-best) and 133 career rounds played (fourth-best).

Alcorn received his B.S. in education from Baylor in 2009. He is married to the former Ashleigh Gunning, who is a former Chanticleer women's soccer player and member of the CCU Sasser Athletics Hall of Fame.
