Coastal Football Remains Top 10 in Coaches Poll; Falls to 11th in The Sports Network

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina football team fell to ninth in the FCS Coaches Poll and 11th in The Sports Network Poll after a 31-26 setback to then #16 Charleston Southern this past weekend.
The Chanticleers (9-1) had its nine-game winning streak snapped, 14-game regular-season win streak snapped and eight-game Big South win streak snapped. With the win Saturday, Charleston Southern (10-1) moved up to 12th in the FCS Coaches Poll and 13th in The Sports Network Poll. Other CCU opponents from this season also receiving votes in this week's polls are South Carolina State, Eastern Kentucky, Furman and Liberty.
Despite the loss Saturday, Coastal Carolina scored 26 points to bring its 10-game season total to 455 points, setting a school record. The previous CCU record was 446 points - set last season in 13 games. Coastal currently ranks fifth on the Big South single-season list for points in a season. The Big South record is 494 points, set by Stony Brook in 2011.
Coastal Carolina will play its final home regular-season game this Saturday, hosting Presbyterian at 1:00 pm. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3. Prior to the game, Coastal will honor its senior class, so please fill the stadium early to give them a proper salute. After the CCU-Presbyterian game, the Chanticleer men's basketball team will host defending SEC Champion Ole Miss at 7 pm in The HTC Center.
