CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coastal Carolina defensive back Josh Norman (Greenwood, S.C.) has been selected as the Choice Hotels Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week for games played during Week 10 of the 2009 regular-season, it was announced today by the Conference office.

Norman tied a Big South single-game record with three interceptions – all in the second half -- in Coastal Carolina’s home win over Gardner-Webb.  His first interception ended a GWU scoring threat deep in Coastal territory, and set up the Chanticleers’ first touchdown of the second half.  Norman’s second pick ended Gardner-Webb’s next-to-last scoring drive on its first play, and his final interception sealed Coastal’s victory as he picked off a pass in the end zone with less than 30 seconds to play.  Norman now has a Big South single-season record seven interceptions on the year.

The Chants close out the 2009 home portion of the schedule when they host Presbyterian Sat., Nov. 14 at 12:30 p.m.
