Football Cracks Top 25 For First Time In Program History

Chanticleers also continue to receive recognition in two other polls

CONWAY, SC – Coastal Carolina’s football team has broken into the Top 25 of a national poll for the first time in the program’s brief history, Nov. 8. The Chanticleers, with their 8-1 mark so far, are ranked 24th in The Sports Network poll released earlier today, garnering 261 points.

Coastal also continues to receive recognition in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll, as well as Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette. CCU received 63 points in the ESPN/USA Today poll, which if it was continued beyond the Top 25, would have the Chants ranked 26th. Coastal was also ranked 26th in the National Weekly Football Gazette poll.

This is the third week that Coastal has earned national recognition in the polls, as the Chanticleers have already locked up at least a share of the Big South Conference title with a 3-0 mark and one league game remaining.

CCU is back in action, Sat., Nov. 13, as the Chants host the Jacksonville Dolphins. Kickoff at Brooks Stadium is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
