Football's Parker Named Big South Special Teams Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coastal Carolina kick returner David Parker was selected as Big South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, for games played the 10th week of the 2005 season, it was announced today by the Conference office.   Parker, a junior from Clinton, Md., totaled seven kick returns for 128 yards Saturday at Savannah State.  Parker returned four punts for 39 yards (9.8 average), including a 21-yarder in the second quarter that set up a CCU score, as well as a 12-yard return.  On three kickoff returns, Parker totaled 89 yards (29.7 average), including a 56-yard return (second-longest in school history) late in the third quarter that gave CCU the ball at the SSU 35-yard line. This was his first ever weekly honor, though he was Second Team All-Big South as a kick returner in 2004.   Coastal will return to the field, Sat., Nov. 12, hosting Mansfield (Pa.) for Senior Day at Brooks Stadium. The Chanticleers will honor their 10 seniors in a pre-game ceremony with kickoff scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
