Head Coach Joe Moglia

Opening Statement
"In terms of Charleston Southern, I think we very much have our work cut out for us. They're a disciplined team on defense, they do a good job of being physical and getting to the ball. They also have an excellent turnover margin that has certainly helped them over the span of the season. Everybody is certainly aware of their record and the fact that they're nationally ranked. From a special teams perspective they've done a good job all season. I think probably our biggest challenge is for our defense in terms of what they do offensively. They run the triple option, and they execute that option very well."

How tough is it to prepare for the option in a short amount of time?
"It's tough. The number one priority is to be disciplined with your reads and then understand what your responsibility is. If we do that, our guys will be in the right place the vast majority of the time."

Lorenzo Taliaferro set another record this past Saturday, how impressed are you with this guy?
"He brings it, but I am not surprised at that. The difference between last year and this year is just having a comfort with the system, getting spring ball and all of last season under his belt. Lorenzo is a very hard worker. He is smart. He understands what his job is and he knows how to execute. He does everything else when he is not carrying the ball. He works hard and deserves all of the accolades that he is getting in the success that he has had."

What is biggest difference you see between Charleston Southern this year and last year?
"Their turnover margin (is outstanding) and (they have) excellent ball security on their end. Also their ability to execute the triple option better than they have been able to do in the past. On defense they get to the ball and they have consistency in their special teams."

Why do think Coastal has been so successful in its third-down situations?
"I think we have been clutch under pressure and we've been having a great year offensively. We're able to advantage of what other teams give us and we have the ability to check out of certain calls."

Junior linebacker Quinn Backus

How has the defense been preparing for the triple option?
"The main thing we've stressed is stopping the dive first. We've got to make them run the ball sideways. We have to make sure we tackle well, make sure everyone knows their assignment and then get to the ball."

Senior right tackle Drew Herring

How big does this game feel knowing you'd be closer to locking up the Big South?
"It's a big game, but every game we've had in the past has been just as big a game as this one."

How fierce is this rivalry with Charleston Southern? "We want to win every game. I take it as if we are playing a rival every week, but CSU and Liberty have been our consistent rivals over the past few years I've been here."
