Football's Frasier Named First Team Academic All-District

CONWAY, S.C. -- Sophomore linebacker Derrick Frasier (Orangeburg, S.C./Orangeburg-Wilkinson) was named ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District as selected by CoSIDA, the organization announced today. Frasier now moves on to the national ballot for Academic All-American.

 

A business major with a 3.55 grade point average, Frasier has started all nine games at linebacker and currently ranks second on the team and 10th in the Big South Conference with 61 tackles, including 28 solos. He has 5.5 tackles for loss for 21 yards and 1.0 sack for 10 yards. He has had two games with 10 or more tackles, including a career-best 11 tackles (six solos), with 1.0 tackles for loss against Stony Brook. He also had 10 tackles against Colgate for his first double-digit tackle of his career. On the year, he has seven games with at least six tackles recorded. He enters this week's action with 95 total tackles in his career.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable).
