Coastal Carolina Football Press Conference Quotes
10-31-12 (Gardner-Webb week)
About Gardner-Webb's Quarterback
Quinn Backus: He does a good job with different type of formations and he does a good job of running the ball.
About the importance of breaking Patrick Hall's single season all-purpose record
Jeremy Height: It's a great accomplishment to break the record, if I do, but, to me, it's not really about that. It's about getting the W's in the win column because we still have a chance to make the playoffs. With that being said, we are going to keep going out and working hard to get better and get as many W's as we can.
About the attitude towards the game in the last stretch of the season
Jeremy Height: Gardner-Webb actually beat us last year, and that's something that we still have in the back of our minds. We are still going to come out here and practice hard like any other game.
Head Coach Joe Moglia's Opening Statement
I have concern about Gardner-Webb. If they didn't have turnovers, I think they would have beaten Liberty. They have the most prolific passer in the league with regards to the yardage he's been able to get per game. He is a good quarterback. He's got three skilled guys that are comparable to our guys in the sense that all three guys have 30-something receptions so you can't really isolate one. When we played Liberty, (Pat) Kelly was their guy and we were aware of that, we were sensitive of that. There were times when we did double team him and that was effective for us. You can't double team one of their guys because they will have someone else that is going to be wide open. We have to be careful of that. I worry about their passing game. Some of their passing concepts are concepts that we really struggled with the first five or six games of the season, but we've been better with those lately.
From a special team's perspective, their punter is not just one of the leading punters in the league, but he's also one of the better punters in the country. Their punt return is not just the leader in the league, he's also one of the better punt returns in the country
One of the things that gives them nice flexibility with regards to their offense is they will go to a wildcat game. They will be effective with that. So what I worry about the most is their passing game, their good quarterback, any one of their three receivers because all three are really good-skilled guys, their outstanding punter, their outstanding punt team, and their outstanding punt return.
