Football Cracks Top 10 In Two National Polls

Chanticleers continue their climb in the polls and rankings after win against VMI

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University football program (7-1, 3-0 Big South) continued to climb, making the program's first-ever appearance in the top 10 two of the national polls, announced Oct. 31. This comes on the heels of a solid 38-14 Homecoming victory over VMI that clinched at least a share of Coastal's second consecutive Big South Conference championship.
 
Coastal's highest ranking comes in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, moving up five spots to eighth with 689 points, the highest ranking ever for CCU in any poll. The Chanticleers also moved up in the The Sports Network Top 25, where the Chanticleers are at No. 9 with 1,765 points, moving up four spots. CCU is 15th in the Any Given Saturday poll, the team's highest ranking ever in the poll after a climb of four places. In two other independent rankings, the Chants are 10th according to Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette and 17th by College Sports Report.  
 
This week, the Chants hit the road to Savannah, Ga. to take on the Savannah State Tigers, Sat., Nov. 5. Kickoff at Wright Stadium is set for 1:30 p.m.
