CHARLOTTE, N.C. Coastal Carolina University football's freshman fullback Mike Tolbert (Douglasville, GA-Douglas County) was named Big South Conference Freshman of the Week, Oct. 25. This is the fifth time a Coastal freshman has won the weekly honor in 2004 and the first for Tolbert.
Tolbert nearly equaled his rushing total from the first six games, posting his first collegiate 100-yard game with 107 yards on 10 carries and one touchdown in CCUs 33-6 win over Liberty. He scored on a one-yard plunge on Coastals opening drive of the second half to give the Chanticleers a commanding 19-0 lead, followed by his season-high 52-yard scamper, which set up CCUs next touchdown.
The Chanticleers (6-1, 2-0 Big South) play their third-consecutive Big South Conference game, traveling to two-time defending champion Gardner-Webb (3-4, 1-1 Big South), Sat., Oct. 30.
