CONWAY - Coastal Carolina Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek announced that the Charlotte football game on Nov. 2 with will be televised live on WFXB-TV (Myrtle Beach-Florence), as well as on WOLO (Columbia) and WCCB (Charlotte, N.C.).
Billed as the "Battle of the Carolinas," the game is set for a 3 pm start at Coastal's Brooks Stadium. Also on that day, Coastal will induct Ashleigh Gunning, Patrick Hall, Chasity Johnson and Jack Leasure into its Sasser Athletics Hall of Fame and the Chanticleer-49er football game will be the culmination of the University's Homecoming activities.
"We are pleased to partner with WFXB and WCCB to promote this game and thrilled WOLO in Columbia will be included." Yurachek said. "Our program has created more interest with our tremendous success of late and Charlotte has done an outstanding job generating fan support this season, selling out all of their home games and getting a great television audience in their market as well. We are always looking for ways to build our brand in the Carolinas while showcasing our football program and University. This game in particular is a perfect way to accomplish those goals."
Under second-year head coach Joe Moglia, Coastal is currently ranked third in the FCS Coaches Poll and sixth by the Sports Network. The Chanticleers are undefeated, sporting a 7-0 record, and feature one of the most explosive offenses in the nation.
Charlotte, an NCAA FBS program, is in its inaugural football season and boasts a 4-3 record with wins over Big South members Presbyterian and Gardner-Webb this season.
