Football Moves Up In National Polls

Chanticleers climb into top 20 in all three national polls

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University football program continued to climb in the national polls this week, announced Oct. 10.

Coastal's highest ranking comes in The Sports Network Top 25 at No. 15 with 1,066 points, moving up four spots. The Chanticleers also moved up in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, going from 19th to 16th with 420 points. CCU is 20th in the Any Given Saturday poll, tying the team's highest ranking ever in the poll. In two other independent rankings, the Chants are 17th by College Sports Report and 21st according to Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette.

After taking last week off, the Chanticleers (4-1) are back in action Sat., Oct. 15, hosting Gardner-Webb (2-3) for the Big South Conference opener for both teams. The game, scheduled to kickoff at 3:30 p.m., will be  televised as part of the Big South Television package and shown locally on WWMB UPN-21.
