CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coastal Carolina linebacker Derrick Frasier garnered Big South Conference Football Freshman of the Week honors, for games played during Week 6 (Oct. 6) of the 2007 season, it was announced today by the Conference office.
Frasier, a freshman from Orangeburg, S.C., recorded a career-high 12 tackles in his first career start at Furman to lead the Chanticleer defense. On the opening drive, Frasier had a pair of tackles on second and third down to force the Paladins to try to convert a fourth down, which failed. He also had one other drive-ending tackle in the game and helped the defense give up a season-low total in rushing yards and passing yards by an opponent.
The Chanticleers return home to host a three-game homestand, starting Sat., Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. against Chowan. CCU will be celebrating Family Weekend at the game.
