Official CFPA Freshman of the Year Watch List release

CONWAY - Coastal Carolina running back De'Angelo Henderson has been named to the National FCS Freshman of the Year Watch List, as selected by College Football Performance Awards.

Henderson (Summerville, S.C.) has started two games in the Chanticleer backfield with Lorenzo Taliaferro this season. First, versus Furman, Henderson rushed eight times for 39 yards. Then, this past week at Elon, Henderson rushed six times for 34 yards (5.7 yards per attempt) as CCU posted a school-record 652 yards of total offense. Henderson also helped CCU to 631 yards of total offense - seven yards shy of what was the school record - at Eastern Kentucky, rushing five times for 55 yards.

Despite playing behind Taliaferro, who ranks among the FCS top 10 in numerous rushing categories, Henderson ranks 10th in the Big South with 191 rushing yards through five games. He is averaging 6.2 yards per carry and has scored two touchdowns this season. As a team, the sixth-ranked Chanticleers rank fifth in the NCAA FCS in rushing offense - 282.6 yards per game.

Henderson is one of 32 players in the FCS Division to make the inaugural list of 2013.
