Perkins became the first Chant ever to eclipse the 200-yard rushing mark, carrying a season-high 34 times for 202 yards and three touchdowns. Perkins had two dramatic runs for touchdowns during the game, scoring on a nine-yard run after picking up a mishandled exchange from center and then sealed the victory with a 12-yard run with less than a minute to play that put him over the 200-yard mark. Perkins has now rushed for 598 yards and six touchdowns.
The smallest player on the Coastal roster, Williams was big for Coastal in the win at North Greenville. He had five kickoff returns for 166 yards, giving the Chants an average field position of the 40-yard line for each kickoff received against the Crusaders. Williams opened the game with a bang, returning a kick for 58 yards to set up the Chanticleers opening score of the game. He averaged 33.2 yards per return versus North Greenville.
Morant played a big role in Coastal Carolinas win over North Greenville. The freshman running back had just eight carries but made them count for 47 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Morant scored twice within a span of 1:37 to put the Chanticleers up for good in the wild second quarter, his second coming on a season-best 17 yard run.
Coastal had a player earn Big South honors one prior time this year, as sophomore linebacker Maurice Simpkins was named Big South Defensive Player of the Week after CCU's opening-game win over Newberry. The Chanticleers return to the field, Sat., Oct. 4, hosting defending Big South Champion Gardner-Webb. Kickoff at CCU's Brooks Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
