CONWAY, S.C.- The Coastal Carolina University athletics department is proud to introduce new football game day events and procedures that will take place starting on Saturday, September 18, in the 2010 season home opener against Georgia Southern. Gates to Brooks Stadium open at 4 p.m. followed by kickoff at 6 p.m.
Starting at 2 p.m. the Coastal Carolina Fan Fest will be open on the Adkins Field House lawn. Fan Fest will feature inflatables for the kids, music, Coastal Carolina cheerleaders and Chauncy. The D.R. Horton mobile football command unit will also be on site with televisions showing all the football action from around the country.
In addition, the D.R. Horton and 93.9 ESPN Radio tailgate show will be broadcasting live at 3 p.m. between gates one and two of Brooks Stadium, leading into the Chants Sports Network coverage at 5 p.m.
At 3:30 p.m. the corporate hospitality and Armed Service Veterans tents, also located on the Adkins Field House lawn, will be open to welcome guests to Brooks Stadium and Coastal Carolina football.
At 3:30 p.m. golf carts, operated by the Chanticleer track and field teams, will begin circulating the campus offering rides all fans to Brooks Stadium. Shuttles will begin running down University Boulevard at 4 p.m. to take fans from the Horry Georgetown Technical College parking lots to Brooks Stadium.
The first 3,000 spectators into Brooks Stadium will receive a Coastal Carolina helmet fan. Also, the first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a free game program.
The Armed Forces/ Public Servants Day will feature ticket discounts to all active and inactive armed forces members (indicate to ticket office if this discount applies). During half time Coastal Carolina University will honor those who serve their country with a video tribute. Immediately following the game Armed Forces/ Public Servants Day will be capped off with a fireworks display over Adkins Field House.
For students attending the game, the student entrance to Brooks Stadium has moved to gate six on the corner closest to route 544 and University Boulevard. It is mandatory that all students show their game day wristband and a valid Coastal Carolina University ID to gain admission.
