CONWAY - It is only 15 days until Coastal Carolina hits the road to open the 2010 football season at 24th-ranked West Virginia. Coastal Carolina will play its home opener Sept. 18.
In preparation for the impending season, Coastal Carolina will have one of its final intrasquad tune-ups this Saturday. Later in the day Saturday, fans can get the chance to meet the Chanticleers at the annual Fan Appreciation Day from 5-7 pm at Brooks Stadium
The "Meet the Chants" is an annual free event where Coastal Carolina fans can interact, take pictures and get autographs with the football student-athletes and coaches. In addition, with the completion of Adkins Field House, the public will get to see the state-of-the-art facilities used by Coastal Carolina student-athletes and coaches. Also, to get a feel for new family-oriented 2010 Chanticleer football gameday, there will be inflatables and games as part of the Family Fun Zone.
There will be free popcorn and drinks while supplies last, and the concession stand will be open, selling additional drinks, hot dogs and candy.
The annual "Ladies Night" is a gridiron for girls clinic. Fans, or those wanting to become more knowledgeable about the game, can learn the intricacies of the game as well as ask head coach David Bennett, the Chanticleers' football staff and ACC/Big South officials questions about the game and rules interpretations. The clinic will take place in the new team room on the third floor of Adkins Field House. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door with space being limited to 100 guests. Refreshments and a light menu, courtesy of Max & Ermas, will be provided. For more information or to reserve your spot, contact Melinda Hyman at mhyman@coastal.edu or by calling (843) 234-3428.
Coastal Carolina will look to repeat last year's success, winning all its home football games, by hosting six-time national champion Georgia Southern (Sept. 18), Delaware State (Sept. 25), 2009 co-Big South Champion Stony Brook (Oct. 23), 2009 co-Big South Champion and 2010 preseason favorite Liberty (Nov. 13) and rival Charleston Southern (Nov. 20).
Season tickets are available and single-game tickets may be purchased on August 16. In addition to the great season ticket packages, groups of 15 or more can purchase tickets for just $8 per person. Families can purchase tickets for four (one adult and three youth or two adults and two youth) for the entire 2010 season for just $99.
