The Chanticleer offense was productive on the day, posting six touchdowns with five coming through the air. Coastal
Quarterback Zach MacDowall got the scoring going for the Chants on his first two possessions, connecting with tight end Scott Fambrough on a seam route to the Coastal Carolina 15 and picked up a down field block to score in the right corner of the end zone. MacDowall then hit running back Eric O’Neal in the right flat and he scored from 21 yards out.
The offense was stopped on the next possession and that’s where the Chanticleer special teams picked up its score. At the Offense’s 23, Andrew Stephens came around the right side of the line and blocked the punt, where it was picked up at the 15-yard line by Brian Harrison, who scooted into the end zone untouched for the score.
The only rushing touchdown of the day came on a five-yard run by running back. Arthur Sitton in a goal-line situation. MacDowall later got his third touchdown toss of the day as he hit wide receiver Jamar Anderson in stride with a short pass on the right side and Anderson out ran the defense for a 55-yard score.
Quarterback William Richardson tallied the last two touchdown tosses on the day, hitting Fambrough in the back of the end zone for a six-yard score and then threw it to wide receiver Keith Graham on a “jump-ball” play for a three-yard touchdown on the final offensive play of the scrimmage.
On the day, the offense had 420 yards on 73 offensive plays (5.75 yards per play), including 272 yards through the air. MacDowall was 9-of-13 for 173 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, while
