Football Completes First Two-A-Day, Readies for First Scrimmage

The Coastal Carolina University football team completed its first two-a-day session Friday, August 8 under sunny skies and temperatures in the 80’s. The Chanticleers are getting ready for the first of four scrimmages Saturday at 10 a.m.   “We worked on the running game this morning and the passing game this afternoon,” Coastal Carolina head coach David Bennett said. “We’ll meet after supper. It’s a tough thing. As a head coach, you have to straddle the fence. On one end, you want the offense to complete a bunch of passes, but then the defense isn’t doing their part. It’s constant competition. Once that play is over, you get ready for the next one. If it’s great, you don’t act cocky about it. If it’s bad, you don’t get down in the dumps. You have to get ready for the next one. It’s like life. Football plays like a day in your life. There are going to be good and bad days. You have to get ready for the next one.”   Bennett talked about what the coaching staff will look for in tomorrow’s scrimmage.   “We look for execution,” Bennett commented. “We know they are all going to compete. You have to execute at your highest peak. It’s the first of four scrimmages and we’ll see how they do.”   The first scrimmage will be Saturday, August 9 at 10 a.m., in Brooks Stadium.
