Football Puts on the Shoulder Pads for First Time Sunday Night

The Coastal Carolina University football team put on the shoulder pads for practice for the first time Sunday night as the Chanticleers went through a two-hour session in cooler temperatures than the 100-plus heat index earlier in the day.

Coastal went through position drills to start the practice, then covered kickoff and kick returns and finished the practice with offensive and defensive sets.  Bennett was pleased with the effort for most of the practice.

"We had a good practice until the end," Bennett said.  "We have to finish things off."

Coastal will step back on the practice field Monday, August 6 at 3:30 p.m. for another two-hour practice.  The Chanticleers might not be as lucky with the weather, as temperatures are expected to be in the mid-90's in the afternoon.

NOTE:  Coach Bennett would like to thank Sheriff Thompson and the staff at J. Reuben Long for giving the team a tour of the facility on Saturday.  "Those men learned a live lesson yesterday," Bennett said.
