CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina football squad once again had to battle inclement weather in completing its second day of preseason camp Friday.
A heavy but isolated shower prior to practice forced the offense to utilize the Boni Belle Hitting & Practice Facility. The team came together for special teams drills then the defense took its turn indoors. With the rain letting up, the offense took to the practice field for the second half of the session, going through a walk-through of the system.
"We really had to get outside on a full-length field to properly get a feel for how our offense works in space," said offensive coordinator Dave Patenaude. "We have been able to manage the mental reps so far, but we will add shoulder pads tomorrow and we have to ramp it up. We need to start moving people around and working at the pace we have to operate in order for us to be successful.
"I know the weather has caused some havoc, but really that is no excuse for some of the mental mistakes we have made in the first two days. We will only be adding more and more to the offense each day so mastering our foundation these first couple of days is critical if we want to reach our goals."
