CONWAY, S.C. -- The Coastal Carolina University football team weathered the heat, August 2, for its second practice of the season. Wednesdays hour-and-45 minute practice was the last in just helmets during the five-day acclimatization period.
Once again, drills by position opened the practice. The Chants then went to a sideline pursuit drill and ended the practice by splitting up into offense and defense, working with co-offensive coordinators Gary Smallen and Jamie Snider and defensive coordinator Curtis Walker on running plays.
Temperatures in the Conway area were in the upper 90s with a heat index of over 100, so the Chanticleers had numerous water breaks, including a 10-minute break in the middle of practice, to stay hydrated.
Coastal will now put on the upper pads for its third practice of the fall, Thursday, August 3, at 6:45 p.m.
