CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina University football squad held its second spring scrimmage at Brooks Stadium on Wednesday night, March 31. This was the first one under the lights for the Chanticleers as they continue their work during the spring drills.

The offense showed progress, putting together an improved 294 yards on 95 plays, though the numbers are tainted by the sacks on contact with the quarterback. After a stalled drive and a missed field goal, the Chants' offense got on the board on the third drive as kicker Justin Durham connected on a field goal from 42 yards out. The only other score on the evening was a 65-yard bootleg by quarterback Jamie Childers, as he outlegged the defensive backs to the end zone. Overall, the offense was just 6-for-26 on third down conversions and struggled in the "teal zone" to score, going 0-for-3 in the area as well as 1-for-4 on field goal attempts, though the three misses were all outside 47 yards.

The third scrimmage of the fall will be next Wednesay, April 7 under the lights at Brooks Stadium, as the Chanticleers will scrimmage at 7:30 p.m.
