Football's 2009 Schedule Changed to Accommodate Conflict

CONWAY, S.C.—The Coastal Carolina University football team will still have five home games, as the Chanticleers have moved two games to accommodate a conflict in their 2009 schedule.

Due to a misunderstanding, North Carolina A&T had booked both Coastal Carolina and North Carolina Central on its schedule for October 3. With some work from Coastal Carolina, North Carolina A&T, Towson and Morgan State as well as Football Bowl Subdivision school Northwestern, various schedules were adjusted to move the Chants game at Towson up from Sept. 26 to Sept. 19 and the North Carolina A&T game to Sept. 26. The open date will now be Oct. 3 for Coastal Carolina.

"I just want to express my thanks to all the schools involved for their hard work on this schedule change," Athletic Director Warren "Moose" Koegel said. "It really was great to see how everyone wanted to help and get this resolved as quickly as possible. It was one of those things that does occasionally happen and we were glad we could make some adjustments, along with all of the help from the other programs, to allow North Carolina A&T to keep their home game with North Carolina Central as well as honor its contract with us."

The Chanticleers will open the 2009 slate at Football Bowl Subdivision's Kent State on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m.
