CONWAY - The 2016 Coastal Carolina football season officially begins today (Mar.15) with the first of 15 spring practices. The Chanticleer football program is also excited to announce the launch of @CoachJoeMoglia on Twitter today.

The new Twitter account, @CoachJoeMoglia, will not be a typical "coach" twitter account, which is on par for the out-of-the box head coach. @CoachJoeMoglia will feature football information as well as focusing on the world events and numerous speaking engagements Coach Moglia experiences both as a head football coach and Chairman of the Board for TD Ameritrade. Coach Moglia will be very interactive and engaging with his followers.

The @CoastalFootball Twitter account will remain the primary source of information surrounding the Chanticleer football program, including news and events.

Coastal Carolina's 2016 spring schedule will feature four practices per week and culminate with the annual Spring Game, which is set for 1 pm on April 9.

The Chanticleers return 62 letterwinners and a total of 17 starters from last season while losing just 10 starters and 23 letterwinners.

Coastal will have to replace All-American quarterback Alex Ross, who set nearly every CCU single-season and career record. Sophomore Josh Stilley and redshirt freshman Chance Thrasher will have the initial opportunity to take the helm. Helping the new signal-callers will be returning All-American running back De'Angelo Henderson as well as all-conference performers Bruce Mapp (WR), Chris Jones (WR), Voghens Larrieux (OT), Sam Ekwonike (OG) and Chase Tidwell (OT).

On defense, Coastal lost a pair of all-conference ends -- Roderick Holder and Calvin Hollenhorst -- as well as two-year starter at tackle Leroy Cummings. However, the Chants return five of its top seven tacklers including leaders Alex Scearce (LB) and Jabarai Bothwell (DT) along with Kerron Johnson, C.J. Thompson and Shane Johnson.

Coastal returns all of its specialists from last season, including All-American kick returned Devon Brown, all-conference kicker Ryan Granger and all-conference punt returner Jones. Also back are kickoff specialist Masamitsu Ishibashi, long snapper Connor Kubala, punter Evan Rabon and holder Tyler Keane.
