CONWAY - Coastal Carolina University Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek released the Chanticleers' 12-game, 2014 football schedule, which will be the program's 12th overall season and third under two-time National FCS Head Coach of the Year finalist Joe Moglia.

Highlights for the two-time defending Big South Champion Chanticleers include five home games, three games versus 2013 co-league champions (South Carolina State, Furman and Liberty), three games versus Southern Conference members, three games versus Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference (MEAC) members, and new Big South member Monmouth.

Coastal opens the season Aug. 30 at The Citadel. This will mark the seventh time CCU has opened a season on the road and the first time the Chanticleers and Bulldogs have met on the gridiron.

Following the opener, the Chants will play three straight games versus MEAC programs, including Coastal Carolina's home opener versus South Carolina State on Sept. 13, which will be the culmination of the CCU''s Family Weekend. Coastal will then play return games versus SoCon foes Elon at home Sept. 20 and Furman on the road Oct. 4.

Coastal will begin is defense of the Big South Championship Oct. 11 at Presbyterian College ahead of a bye week. The Chants will close the season playing three of their final five regular-season contests at home. Breaking from the recent Big South rotation, Coastal will host Charleston Southern Oct. 25 for Homecoming and Sasser Athletics Hall of Fame Weekend; host new member Monmouth Nov. 15; and now close the regular season Nov. 22 with Liberty, with whom CCU has shared the league title the last two seasons.

Coastal is a combined 43-14 versus teams on the 2014 schedule with this year being the first time CCU will face The Citadel and Florida A&M.
