CONWAY - Coastal Carolina All-American running back Lorenzo Taliaferro has accepted an invitation to play in the 65th Annual Reese's Senior Bowl. One of the nation's most prestigious collegiate all-star games, the Senior Bowl will be played Jan. 25 (Saturday) at 4 pm (ET)/3 pm (CT) in Mobile, Ala., at Ladd-Peebles Stadium and telecast on the NFL Network.

Taliaferro will become the second Chanticleer and fourth Big South football player to play in the game, joining Liberty's Rashad Jennings in 2009 - former seventh-round NFL draft pick and current Oakland Raider; Coastal Carolina's Josh Norman in 2012 - former fifth-round NFL draft pick and current Carolina Panther; and Liberty's Walt Aikens on this year's South squad.

Taliaferro was a Walter Payton Award Finalist, a second team FCS All-America (Associated Press and The Sports Network) and the 2013 Big South Offensive Player of the Year - earning the league's Offensive Player of the Week honors a record-tying five times.

His play helped Coastal Carolina post a 12-3 record, win a second-straight Big South Championship, reach the NCAA Division I Championship quarterfinal and finish seventh in the final FCS polls.

In addition, Taliaferro set numerous Big South and Coastal Carolina single-season rushing records while ranking among FCS top offensive players and helping the Chanticleer offense set numerous records and rank among the nation's best in 2013.

Taliaferro had nine games with at least 100-yards rushing, including eight of the school's top 20 single-game efforts. Also, his impressive offense numbers came against six defenses which finishes the season ranked among the FCS top 40, including:
• 157 yards versus #2 South Carolina State (season average of 90.9 ypg)
• 85 yards (IN 3 QUARTERS) versus #8 Bethune-Cookman (season average of 106.3 ypg)
• 144 yards versus #16 Gardner-Webb (season average of 122.5 ypg)
• 174 yards versus #19 Eastern Kentucky (season average of 123.3 ypg)
• 151 yards versus #31 Liberty (season average of 135.3 ypg)
• 104 yards versus #40 Montana (season average of 143.3 ypg)

In the NCAA FCS - Big South statistics, Taliaferro ranked:
• 2nd - 1st in scoring (11.6 ppg)
• 3rd - 1st in rushing TDs (27)
• 3rd - 1st in rushing yards (1,729)
• 12th - 1st in rushing yards per game (115.3)
• 22nd - 2nd in pts responsible for (174)
• 36th - 1st in all-purpose (125.47 ypg)
• 117th- 5th in total offense (115.3 ypg)

Taliaferro is the second Chanticleer to play in a premier all-star game as wide receiver Matt Hazel will play in the 89th Annual East-West Shrine Game this Saturday (Feb. 18) in St. Petersburg, Fla. Kickoff is set for 4 pm (ET) on the NFL Network. Hazel is the third Chanticleer to play in the East-West Shrine Game and fourth player from the Big South. All previous Big South participants are in the NFL, including CCU's Jerome Simpson, Presbyterian's Justin Bethel and Norman.
