Coastal Carolina Football Finishes 27th in Final Sports Network Poll

2010 Final Sports Network/Fathead.com Poll

CONWAY - After winning its fourth Big South championship and earning its second NCAA Division I Football Championship playoff berth in eight years as a program, Coastal Carolina (6-6) finished 27th in the final Sports Network/Fathead.com media poll.

It marks the first time since 2006, when Chanticleers finished 14th, the program appeared in the final poll. Also in the final Sports Network/Fathead.com poll were 2010 Coastal Carolina opponents Georgia Southern (fifth), Western Illinois (17th), Liberty (21st), Richmond (29th) and Stony Brook (52nd).

Coastal, who had been absent from the media poll since ranking 23rd in the 2007 preseason poll, started 2010 ranked 82nd in the preseason poll then did not re-appear until after beating Charleston Southern in the 2010 season finale at 38th.

Coastal Carolina featured the 2010 Big South Coach of the Year David Bennett, Big South Defensive Player of the Year Andrae Jacobs and All-American tight end David Duran.
