Liberty at Coastal Carolina Oct. 27, 2012 Conway, S.C. | Brooks Stadium - Benton Field
Coastal Carolina head coach Joe Moglia
Opening Statement: This season we hadn't quite gotten to the point of playing as a complete team, but this game we made some progress and I think we did it today. I was so pleased with the effort that the defense put forward... I'm incredibly proud of them. When the offense struggled a little bit, the defense was there to pick up the slack. Teams that compete at the national level have to be able to do that. I think our defense took it to them from a physical perspective, we hit well and we did a good job at gang-tackling. This was a big game for us. Going in we knew Liberty was a good team so for us to beat them like we did was great. We always talk about putting a team on the field Coastal can be proud of and I think we did that today. Jeremy Height had a great game tonight. He had some clutch runs and he did a good job with breaking tackles and taking care of the ball. I'd also like to give a pat on the back to Kevin Hart who stepped in for (Jamey) Cheatwood and did a good job. This win against Liberty feels great... it was a huge game. If felt good that it was part of Homecoming and we knew it was important for the community.
Liberty head coach Turner Gill
On the Jeremy Height 46-yard TD run: "One of our linebackers is supposed to get in there to protect that gap and he stayed outside and that's the crease that they hit there. We had an all-out blitz there and they caught us in that call and good job by them. They made the big plays when they had to make them. We were not able to make any big, explosive plays. You've got to give them a lot of credit. Coastal played an outstanding game.
On what Coastal did to take your offense out of rhythm: "They hit us with some blitzes and protection-wise we didn't get it taken care of and so they did a good job whenever they had so blitzes with the free safety coming. They did a good job on their calls."
