CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina's Jack Leasure (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) was named the Big South Conference/New Balance Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week, Dec. 20. This is the first honor during the 2004-05 campaign for a Coastal player and the first league award for Leasure.

The freshman guard tallied 13 points for Coastal, including three three-point field goals against UNC Wilmington last week, in tying for the team scoring lead against the Seahawks. He also had a career-high five assists in Coastal’s home win over Jacksonville State. For the week, Leasure averaged 8.5 points, 1.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. For the season, Leasure is second on the team in scoring at 13.1 points per game and has hit on 45.5 percent (25-of-55) of his shots from beyond the three-point arc.
