After a slow start that saw Coastal leading 4-2 just over three minutes into the game, the Chanticleers made their move, going on a 11-2 run over the next 3:36 to take a lead they would never relinquish. Coastal also put together another run of 21-4 over 5:48 later in the half and went into the lockerroom with a 53-24 halftime lead.
Coastal maintained the lead in the second half, never leading by less than 23 and eventually building it to as many as 35 in the late going before settling for the 29-point victory. Coastal shot 53.6 percent from the field and a solid 47.6 percent from the three-point arc, while converting 21 Campbell turnovers into 27 points. Coastal also dominated the paint, outscoring the Camels 34-18, and also scored 26 fast break points.
Senior guard E.J. Gallup led all scorers with 17 points, while junior guard Alvin Green and sophomore guard Pele Paelay added 11 points each. Coastal played all 15 Chanticleers in the game, with 12 of them scoring in the game. Campbell was led by Diego Agiuar and Corey Parker with 10 points apiece.
Coastal will play its third game in a five-day period when the Chants travel to Charlottesville, Va. to take on the Virginia Cavaliers, Tue., Dec. 22. Tip-off at University Hall is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
