Men's Basketball Player Willie Kirkland Out for Season

CONWAY - Coastal Carolina men's basketball student-athlete Willie Kirkland will miss the remainder of the 2011-12 season with a fractured ankle.

"It has been a tough road for Willie, we never like to see this happen to a player, especially so early in a long season," said head coach Cliff Ellis.

Hampered with the injury originally suffered in the pre-season, Kirkland was limited in action this season playing in four games averaging 3.8 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.

The Coastal Carolina Department of Athletics plans on pursuing a medical hardship at the conclusion of the season.
