Storylines
- Coastal Carolina set a Big South record Thursday night by making 49 field goals in its 111-97 win over VMI. It was a record for a Big South Conference game. The previous record was 47 by Liberty at VMI Feb. 21, 2007.
- Joseph Harris received a mention in Jeff Goodman’s FOXSports.com college basketball blog on Friday. Goodman wrote “Coastal Carolina’s 6-foot-5 senior Joseph Harris put up another double-double last night in a 111-97 victory over VMI. Harris has six double-doubles in the team’s eight games this season,” as part of his Stat of the Night.
- Coastal Carolina plays VMI and Liberty in the first week of December, then does not play the two schools again until the last week of the regular season (Feb. 25 and 27). Meanwhile, there are just 24 days between the two Presbyterian games.
- Courtesy of the Big South Conference’s Mark Simpson, Joseph Harris became the 94th player in Big South history with 1,000 career points when he surpassed the milestone Nov. 21 against Voorhees. He is just the second player in Big South history with 1,000 points, 800 rebounds, 150 steals and 100 blocked shots. He joins Campbell’s Joe Spinks, who accumulated 1,711 points, 954 rebounds, 220 steals and 155 blocks for the Camels from 1990-94. Harris became the third player in League annals with 1,000 points and 900 rebounds Dec. 3 against VMI.
