ABOUT FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL
The Golden Panthers are under the direction of first year Head Coach Richard Pitino. FIU returns just five letterwinners from the 2011-12 team as Coach Pitino and his staff have brought in eight newcomers. Senior Tola Akomolafe and sophomores Deric Hill and Joey De La Rosa are among the returning players from last year's squad. Akomolafe played in just 14 games last season, starting in eight, and averaged 3.2 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per contest. De La Rosa also saw action in 14 games, averaging 1.4 points per game and 1.6 boards per contest. Hill saw action in 23 games in 2011-12, averaging 1.8 points-per-game while recording 33 assists. FIU is 0-2 this season with losses at Boston College and at home to Stephen F. Austin. Junior Malik Smith leads the team with 16.0 points per game.

THE SERIES
Coastal Carolina and Florida International have met just once on the basketball court. The lone meeting took place last season at FIU with the Golden Panthers taking a 64-62 victory.

ON THIS DATE
Coastal Carolina is 3-5 in games played on Nov. 24. The Chants have lost three straight games on Nov. 24 including a 76-69 loss versus Cal. St. Northridge in 2009, a 82-56 loss at Cincinnati in 2008 and a 88-45 loss at then-#7 Florida in 2002. CCU is a perfect 2-0 at home on Nov. 24 including wins over Western Carolina in 2001 and Morris is 1984.

1,000 POINT CLUB
Senior guard Anthony Raffa eclipsed the 1,000 point mark at Coastal with a 26-point performance against Johnson & Wales. He needed just 14 points heading into the game and it took him just 9:40 to reach the 1,000 point milestone. He is now the 17th CCU player to reach mark. Raffa had already eclipsed 1,000 points for his college career heading into the 2012-13 season with his 271 points at Albany combined with his total at Coastal. He now has 1,283 points in his college career and 1,012 in a Coastal uniform.

Kierre Greenwood is approaching the 1,000 point scoring mark at Coastal Carolina as well. He could become the 18th CCU player to reach the milestone. Greenwood currently has 890 career points and needs 110 more to join the elite group of Chanticleers who have eclipsed the 1,000 point mark.
