Men's Basketball To Face Indiana State, Northridge in NIT Season Tip-Off Consolation Round

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Coastal Carolina University men’s basketball team will continue the 2009 Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off Nov. 23 and 24 on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky. Coastal Carolina will face Indiana State Monday, Nov. 23 and Cal State Northridge Tuesday, Nov. 24 at the E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green. Both games will start at 5:30 p.m. EST (4:30 p.m. CST).

The Chanticleers will face two teams that also went 1-1 in the first two rounds of the NIT Season Tip-Off. Indiana State (2-1) opened its season with an 88-58 win over Nebraska-Kearney. The Sycamores then lost to LSU 56-45 and defeated Milwaukee 76-63 in the NIT South Region in Baton Rouge, La. Indiana State is led by Dwayne Lathan, who is averaging 13 points a game.

Cal State Northridge (1-2) opened the season with an 89-64 loss to #7 Purdue. The Matadors then lost to TCU 83-65, before defeating Texas State 85-82 in the NIT West Region in Tempe, Ariz. The Matadors are led by Kenny Daniels’ 17 points a game.

Western Kentucky will also face Cal State Northridge and Indiana State at 8 p.m. EST (7 p.m. CST). Hofstra and TCU earned the other two host sites in the consolation round. Hofstra welcomes Charlotte, Elon and Yale, while TCU has Texas State, Colgate and Milwaukee.

Coastal Carolina went 1-1 in the NIT East Region in Durham, N.C. The Chants fell to #9 Duke 74-49 before defeating Elon 69-46.

The Chanticleers are in action Saturday, Nov. 21 against Voorhees in Kimbel Arena. Game time is at 2 p.m.
