CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina men's basketball team travels to University of Akron Friday evening at 8 p.m. to open the 2013-14 season. The Chants have won four-straight season openers but this will be the first time since 2006 that CCU will open on the road.

Coastal Carolina is 24-15 all-time in season openers.
Coastal edged Akron in overtime, 74-70, to open up the 2012-13 season in Conway, S.C.
Coastal is 13-26 in road openers dating back to the 1974-75 season and 4-11 when opening the season on the road.

Last Time Out
Coastal Carolina fell 78-61 to Liberty in the first round of the 2013 VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Basketball Championships.
The Chants opened the game with a 14-3 run but Liberty used a 17-2 run midway through the first half to take control of the game.
Liberty went on to win the 2013 VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Basketball Championship despite being the fifth seed out of the North Division.
Coastal Carolina heads back to Conway for its 2013-14 home opener against Guilford College. The game is set for Monday, Nov. 11 at 7p.m.

The 2013-14 edition of the Coastal Carolina men's basketball team features five international players. CCU has two players from Senegal, one from Montenegro, one from the Bahamas and one from Cameroon. The remaining nine Chanticleers come to Coastal from five different states including North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin.
