CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina fans will have their first opportunity to catch a glimpse of the 2010-11 Chanticleer basketball teams Thursday night at 7 p.m. when the Chants host Hoopla 2010 from inside Kimbel Arena.
The event officially kicks off at 6:30 p.m. when Beef `O' Brady's begins serving food directly outside the main entrance of Kimbel Arena. Doors to the arena will open at approximately 6:45 p.m. and fans are encouraged to eat inisde the arena and in their seat. Seating will be on a first come first serve basis, and sections 1 and 2 will be reserved for season ticket holders and other dignitaries.
The event will begin with the first annual Coastal Carolina mascot game in which several mascots from around the area will compete in a full court game.
Following the mascot game, the women's team will be introduced and head coach Alan LeForce will address the crowd. The men's team will be introduced next and reigning Big South Coach of the Year Cliff Ellis will speak to the crowd. A banner presentation honoring the men's Big South regular season title and berth in the NIT will follow.
The event continues with a skills competition that will include one member of the women's team, one member of the men's team and one lucky student pulled from the crowd.
The women's team will take part in a scrimmage before the men are highlighted with a slam dunk contest followed by a scrimmage featuring the 2011 Big South Conference favorites.
At the conclusion of the night, one student will leave Kimbel Arena with a brand new 32-inch HD flat screen television. Each student will be given a numbered ticket upon entering the arena and that ticket must match the number called to win the TV. Only students present will have the opportunity to win the television.
