Coastal's Home Game Versus High Point Picked Up by ESPN3

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Big South Conference announced its men's basketball television package for the 2013-14 season and Coastal Carolina’s home game against High Point on Feb. 5, road game at Campbell on Feb. 1, road game at VMI on Feb. 12 and home game against Charleston Southern on March 1 are all a part of the announcement. Coastal’s matchup against High Point will air live on ESPN3 at 7 p.m. while the three other games are a part of three ESPNU “wildcard” broadcasts that will be selected 21 days in advance of the game. CCU’s game at Clemson on Nov. 29 will also be carried on ESPN3.

ESPNU will also televise four regular-season Big South games for the first time, three of which are “wildcard” selections that will be determined three weeks in advance.  ESPNU will televise the Jan. 10 Radford at High Point contest, with its wildcard broadcasts set for Feb. 1 at 11:00am, Feb. 13 at 7:00pm and Feb. 28 at 7:00pm.  ESPN3 will carry the Big South Men’s Basketball Championship Quarterfinals and Semifinals on March 7 and 8, while ESPN2 will air the Big South Championship game live on Sunday, March 9 at 12:00pm.

The Feb. 1 wildcard game is either Coastal Carolina at Campbell, Winthrop at High Point or Gardner-Webb at Radford.

If CCU’s game against VMI is selected for the second wildcard it will be moved from Feb. 12 to Feb. 13. The Feb. 13 wildcard game is either Charleston Southern at High Point, UNC Asheville at Radford, Coastal Carolina at VMI, Winthrop at Longwood or Gardner-Webb at Liberty.

The final wildcard game is set for Feb. 28 and once again if CCU is selected the Chants will move their game from March 1 to Feb. 28. The games in question are Campbell at High Point, Radford at Liberty, Charleston Southern at Coastal Carolina or Presbyterian at Winthrop.

The Chants now have two television games on the schedule with the potential of five with the three wildcard games.

The fans’ first chance to get a glimpse of the 2013-14 Chanticleers will be Monday, Oct. 28, as part of Hoopla, a free celebration to tip off the new basketball season at The HTC Center. The festivities will begin at 10:30 p.m.

The doors will open at 10:15. Students and fans are strongly encouraged to attend. Free pizza and drinks will be provided for the first 100 fans in attendance.

Hoopla will feature several contests involving students and members of the Coastal Carolina men’s and women’s basketball teams.
