Three wins in Costa Rica

SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA - The Coastal Carolina men's basketball program wrapped a successful international tour to Costa Rica with an 80-63 victory over club team Barva, Sun., Sept. 4.

Sophomore guard Jack Leasure (Rochester,NY/McQuaid Jesuit), the reigning Big South Freshman of the Year, led the Chanticleers with 17 points on the afternoon, including going 5-for-7 beyond the international three-point line. Freshman guard Steven Sexton (Lexington, Ky./Wayne County) chipped in 10 points on the day, inlcuding a pair of three-point shots. Sophomore forward Chad Ferguson (North Las Vegas, Nev./Cheyenne) and junior center Adrian Gross (Galesville, Md./Southern) controlled the boards with six rebounds each. As a team, the Chants hit 53 percent from the arc in the win over Barva.

For the three-game foreign tour, Coastal was very effect from behind the three-point arc, hitting 27-for-56 for 48.2 percent. Leasure led the Coastal effort, hitting 16-for-24 from behind the international line, more than a foot farther than the college three-point line.

The Chanticleers will return to Conway Monday evening, Sept. 5.
