Costa Rica Day Two

San Jose, Costa Rica - Coastal Carolina men's basketball team defeated Saprissa Saturday afternoon 69-41 and then the Costa Rican national team 63-51 Saturday night.

Against Saprissa, Jack Leasure (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit)  tallied 24 points for the Chanticleers with eight three point shots. Leasure was 8 for 11 on the three point line.  Freshman Logan Johnson (Knoxville, Tenn/South Doyle) added 10 points to the Chanticleer victory. Adrian Gross (Galesville, Md/Southern ) and Joseph Harris (Lejune, N.C./Lejune ) were leading rebounders in the game with five each.

"Jack did a nice job of being a leader out on the court and got us a great start," commented head coach Buzz Peterson.

"I am really excited to be here playing basketball in a different enviornment." Reflected Leasure after the victory against Saprissa.

The Chanticleers then went on later in the day to face the Costa Rican national team. The Chanticleers had a physical battle with the national team but contuined to fight for the 63-51 victory.

Jack Leasure (Rochester, NY/McQuaid Jesuit ) led the team in points again with 13. Noah Nichols (Upper Marlboro, Md/McNamara) tallied eight points and led the Chanticleers with seven rebounds.

"This was a much more physical game the team did a good job in the second half playing good defense." Peterson commented.

The Chanticleers shot 45.5 percent from behind the arc combined in Saturday's double header. CCU will face Barva Sunday at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
