NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Coastal Carolina University men's basketball team will face Duke Monday, Nov. 16 in the opening round of the 2009 Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off, it was announced today by the NIT Selection Committee.

The Chanticleers will face the Blue Devils, the top seed in the NIT Season Tip-Off, at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C., while Charlotte, the eighth seed, will face Elon in the East Regional. The East Regional championship and consolation game will take place Tuesday, Nov. 17. Game times and possible television opportunities will be announced at a later date.

Duke joins Arizona State, LSU and Connecticut as the four hosts of the NIT Season Tip-Off. Arizona State, the fourth seed, welcomes Cal State Northridge, TCU (the seventh seed) and Texas State. Joining LSU, the third seed, will be Western Kentucky (the fifth seed), Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Indiana State. UConn is the second seed and hosts Hofstra (the sixth seed), Yale and Colgate.

The winner of the four regionals will head to Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y., for the NIT Season Tip-Off semifinals and championship games, which take place Nov. 25 and 27. The other 12 teams will head to three consolation brackets hosted by the three highest seeds that do not advance to New York. Those games will take place Nov. 23-24. Those teams will not play any team twice, and the third and fourth rounds will be assigned to the most geographically compatible site possible.

Oklahoma won last year's Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off, defeating Purdue 87-82 in overtime.
