Chants Basketball Set to Host Loyola (Md.)

Conway - The Coastal Carolina men's basketball team looks to extend its 2016-17 season when they play host to Loyola (Md.) University Monday, March 20 at 7 p.m.

Both teams are coming off first round wins in the College Basketball Invitational, as the Chanticleers (17-17) took care of Hampton and Loyola (16-16), who may have pulled off the tournament upset, beat George Mason on the road 73-58.

In the Chanticleers first round victory over Hampton, all five of the CCU starters reached double-digit scoring. It was the first time all season that had happened.

Junior Jaylen Shaw led that effort with a game-high 22 points. He leads the team in scoring averaging 14.3 per game. Elijah Wilson scored 11 in the win and is averaging 13.2 points per game.

Demario Beck had one of his top games of the season scoring 21 points on 10 of 13 shooting. He is averaging 9.4 points per game and continues to lead CCU in rebounding at 7.9.

Colton Ray-St Cyr continues to have a consistent season, scoring 9.4 points per game and grabbing 6.4 rebounds per outing. Freshman Artur Labinowicz stepped into the starting lineup due to an injured Shivaughn Wiggins. He scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds and 6.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.

Loyola has its top three players who lead the team in just about every category. Andre Walker is the team's leading scorer (15.0), assists leader (128) and leader in steals (48).

Jarred Jones is the only other Greyhound to average double figures at 14.9. He also is the team-leader in blocked shots with 48. Cam Gregory leads the team in rebounding averaging 7.6 per game while averaging 9.9 points per game.

The game can be heard live on 100.3 "The Team". It can also be watched live locally on WPDE-TV. Regionally, the game will be shown on The CW in Raleigh, N.C. and Harrisburg, Pa. It will also be shown live on MyTV in Cincinnati, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Pa. and Wilkes/Scranton, Pa.
