Big South Basketball Championships Brackets Released; Ticket Information

CONWAY - The seedings and pairings for next week's 2013 VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Basketball Championships, hosted at The HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina University, have been determined following the conclusion of the conference's regular-season schedule Saturday evening. The Coastal Carolina men secured the No. 4 seed in the South, while the women will play from the eighth overall seed.
The Chanticleer men, who finished the season with a 14-14 overall record and 9-7 league mark, will play the North's fifth-seeded Liberty on Tuesday, March 5 at 8 p.m. The winner advances to play North Division champion High Point at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 7.
Coastal Carolina and Liberty have met 50 times on the hardwood. Liberty leads the series 27-23 but CCU has won five of the last seven meetings between the two teams. The Chants are 12-11 all-time in Conway versus the Flames and have won the last three meetings at home. Coastal is 0-3 all-time in Big South Tournament games against Liberty. The last time the Chants faced the Flames in Big South Tournament action was in 2004, the Chants fell 88-73.
The Championship will begin Tuesday, March 5 with four first round games. No. 4 North seed Radford will play No. 5 South seed Winthrop at noon, while No. 3 South seed UNC Asheville meets No. 6 North seed Longwood at 2 p.m. In the evening session, No. 3 North seed Campbell will play No. 6 South seed Presbyterian College at 6 p.m., followed by the Chants and Flames squaring off in the day's final game.
Charleston Southern (17-11, 12-4 Big South) is the No. 1 South seed after winning the outright South Division championship this afternoon -- the Buccaneers' first Big South regular-season title since 1986-87. CSU will open against the winner of Radford-Winthrop at noon on March 7. High Point (17-12, 12-4 Big South) is the No. 1 North seed after winning the outright North Division crown on Feb. 19 -- the Panthers' first-ever Big South title in men's basketball.
The women's team closed the regular season with a 13-15 overall record and 8-10 in conference play to earn the eighth seed. The Chants take on Gardner-Webb at 7 p.m on Wednesday, March 6. The winner advances to play top-seeded Liberty at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 8.
Coastal swept the regular season series from the Runnin' Bulldogs, claiming a 65-62 win a Gardner-Webb on Dec, 1 and a thrilling come-from-behind 70-67 overtime victory at The HTC Center on Feb. 16. Overall, the Coastal and Gardner-Webb have played 11 times with the Runnin' Bulldogs holding a slight 6-5 advantage. The sides have met once in the Big South Tournament with Gardner-Webb taking a 64-56 decision in the semifinal round of the 2010 tournament.
Liberty won its 14th Big South women's basketball regular-season championship, and has earned the No. 1 seed in the VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Women's Basketball Championship. Winthrop and Presbyterian College each posted identical 14-4 records in Conference action, with the Eagles breaking the tie with a sweep of the Blue Hose this season to earn the No. 2 position. High Point and Campbell posted 11-7 records in Big South play. The Panthers downed Liberty this season to break the tie and pick up the No. 4 spot, with Campbell grabbing the No. 5 position. Radford garnered the No. 6 slot with its 9-9 record in the League. Longwood and Coastal Carolina also tied with 8-10 records in Conference play, with Longwood earning the No. 7 position in the tie breaker procedure. Gardner-Webb earned the No. 9 seed with a 5-13 record in the League, while Charleston Southern's 3-15 record was good for No. 10. UNC Asheville rounds out the seeds at No. 11 as it went 0-18 in Conference play.

Fans who have purchased championship books and single-session tickets can pick up their tickets at the Athletic Ticket Office in Arcadia Hall starting on Monday, March 4 between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Beginning Tuesday, March 5 all ticket will be distributed at The HTC Center gate one ticket booth starting at 9 a.m. Print-at-home tickets are not available for the event. A photo ID is required to receive tickets.
COASTAL CAROLINA STUDENTS
An allotted amount of student tickets will be made available FREE of charge, compliments of Coastal Carolina University and the Department of Athletics, to Coastal Carolina students.
Men's Basketball Game Tickets
Ticket will be available for pickup on game starting at 9:30 a.m. for those students, with a valid CCU ID, who have accumulated six or more Student Reward Points. Starting at 10 a.m. ticket will be available for all Coastal Carolina students, with a valid CCU ID, on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the allotment has been distributed, students may purchase $5 tickets, based on availability.
Women's Basketball Game Tickets
Tickets will be distributed prior to the game at gate two. A current CCU ID is required.
