CONWAY, SC -- Coastal Carolina's E.J. Gallup (Gloversville, NY-Bridgton (ME) Academy) was named the Big South Conference/Choice Hotels Men's Basketball Player of the Week, Feb. 24. Gallup earned this honor for the second time this season and the third time by a CCU player.
The senior guard was the offensive star for Coastal Carolina this week, averaging 28.5 points (over 10 points above his season average), while adding 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Gallup scored a career-high 33 points, including knocking down a school record seven three-pointers, against Radford. He then followed it up with 24 points and six three-pointers at UNC Asheville. For the week, he hit on 51.3 percent (20-39) of his shots from the field, including 13-of-26 from three-point range. He was also perfect in four attempts at the free throw line.
Coastal (12-14, 7-8 Big South) wraps up Big South Conference regular season play, when the Chanticleers host in-state-rival Charleston Southern (5-20, 2-12 Big South) for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
