CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Radford senior center Art Parakhouski (Minsk, Belarus) has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Coastal Carolina guard Kierre Greenwood (Cincinnati, Ohio) has been named The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for games played Feb. 15-21, it was announced today by the Conference office.
Parakhouski averaged 21.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 61.5 percent from the floor (16-of-26) in two wins last week. In Radford’s win at Liberty on Feb. 16, he recorded 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. He then scored 17 points on 7-of-11 from the field and pulled down 14 rebounds (five offensive) Saturday vs. UNC Wilmington in Radford’s first-ever BracketBusters appearance. It was Parakhouski’s nation-leading 22nd double-double of the season.
Greenwood averaged 12.0 points and 4.0 assists for the Chanticleers, and was an impressive 11-of-13 from the field ( =.846 percent) in two games – including 10-of-10 from inside the arc. He scored 13 points, went 6-of-7 from the floor and handed out three assists in Coastal’s win at North Carolina Central on Feb. 15. He followed that up with a team-high 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting in Saturday’s win over Charleston Southern, in addition to five assists and two steals. Greenwood also kept CSU’s Jamarco Warren in check on defense, as he held Warren to 2-of-12 shooting.
