CONWAY, S.C.. -- The Coastal Carolina men's basketball team ended a two-game losing streak with a 68-55, win over UNC Asheville, Saturday evening in Kimbel Arena.
Junior E.J. Gallup led the way for the Chanticleers with a game-high 15 points, including 5-of-8 from three-point land. Freshman Colin Stevens scored ten, while senior Torrey Butler added nine, along with a game-high 14 rebounds. UNC Asheville (11-14, 7-5 Big South) was paced by Ben McGonagil, Andre Smith and Chad Mohn who scored nine points each. McGonagil added seven rebounds for the Bulldogs, who were outrebounded, 44-28 for the game.
Three-point shooting was the difference in the game as the Chants were 10-of-20 from "the land of three", while UNC Asheville was 3-of-17.
"Coastal Carolina did a great job on the boards tonight," said UNCA head coach Eddie Biedenbach. "We gave then too many open looks on three-pointers and they made them. "We simply didn't get the job done on the defensive side of the ball."
Coastal (13-12, 5-7 Big South) will host Elon in its final regular season home game of the year, on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Kimbel Arena, while UNCA travels to Charleston Southern on Monday at 8 p.m. at the CSU Fieldhouse.
