LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Liberty's Vincent Okotie scored 17 points along with a game-high 12 boards, while Gabe Martin and Ryan Mantlo added 16 each, as the Liberty men's basketball team defeated Coastal Carolina, 79-73, Monday evening at the Vines Center.
With the win Liberty improves to 13-10 overall, 8-3 in the Big South, while Coastal evens its mark at 12-12 overall, 4-7 in the Big South.
Liberty finished the game with a huge advantage from the foul line. The Flames were 35-of-44 from the chairity stripe, while Coastal was only 16-of-19.
Coastal Carolina was led by senior Torrey Butler who scored a game-high 26 points, along with six rebounds. Freshman Pele Paelay added nine points, along with two assists, while Mihai Raducanu had eight.
Coastal returns home to face UNC Asheville on Saturday at 5 p.m., while Liberty travels to Winthrop to face the Eagles on Thursday at 7 p.m.
