CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men’s basketball team looks to extend the nation’s longest winning streak to 23 games Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when the Chanticleers host Gardner-Webb from Kimbel Arena.

Coastal Carolina can also clinch the No. 1 overall seed in the 2011 Big South Tournament and earn at least a share of the conference title with a win over Gardner-Webb.

The Chanticleers won their 22nd straight game Saturday night following its 61-56 victory at Winthrop.  Sophomore guard Anthony Raffa scored a career-high 23 points and scored the final nine points for Coastal to give the Chants their first win at the Winthrop Coliseum since the 2005-06 season.

Sam McLaurin added 12 points, nine rebounds and four blocks, while Chad Gray finished with 11 points and five rebounds.  Desmond Holloway chipped in with nine points and 12 rebounds and failed to score in double figures for the first time this season.

The Chanticleers improved to 24-2 overall and 15-0 in the Big South Conference and tied the 2009-10 team for the most conference wins in a season in school history.

Holloway continues to serve as the offensive catalyst for the Chants and enters the week tops in the league in scoring with 18.8 points per game.  The Indianapolis, Ind., native is also seventh in the league with 6.8 rebounds per game and pulled down at least 12 boards in three straight games.

Gray stands second on the team and 11th in the league with 13.7 points per game.  Gray also ranks 11th in the conference with 6.3 rebounds per game and fourth with 1.42 blocks per game.

Raffa adds 10.3 points per game, while McLaurin is ninth in the Big South with 6.5 rebounds per game and second in blocks with 1.80 rejections per game.

Gardner-Webb (8-18, 3-11) enters the week having lost five of its last six games following a 57-54 home setback to UNC Asheville Saturday night.  The Runnin’ Bulldogs are just 2-13 on the road and have lost nine straight away from home.  Gardner-Webb has not won on the road since winning 59-52 at Radford on Dec. 4.

Senior guard Jon Moore leads Gardner-Webb and ranks 14th in the Big South with 13.3 points per game, while junior forward Josh Henley paces the Runnin’ Bulldogs and is tied for ninth in the league with 6.5 rebounds per game.  Freshman guard Luke Davis stands fourth in the conference with 4.23 assists per game.

Coastal Carolina and Gardner-Webb will be meeting on the hardwood for just the seventh time when the two teams tipoff Tuesday night.  Both teams have won three games in the all-time series that dates back to the 1983-84 season.  The Chants, however, have won three straight over the Runnin’ Bulldogs and won those games by an average of 18.3 points per game.

Earlier this season, Coastal Carolina defeated Gardner-Webb 58-55 behind the career-high 27 points of Holloway.
