Radford Rolls Over Coastal Carolina 76-60

RADFORD, VA— Radford University won its second consecutive Big South
Conference game and moved to two-games above .500 with a 76-60 victory over
Coastal Carolina at the Dedmon Center Monday night.

The victory was the ninth consecutive victory over Coastal Carolina and raised the Highlanders record to 11-14 overall, 6-4 in Big South action. Coastal fell to 6-15 overall and 3-6 in league action.

Correy Watkins would pace the Radford attack once again connecting on 10-of-14 from the field to score a game high 24 points and grab a game best 14 rebounds. Raymond Arrington added 15 points and Nosa Obasuyi would add 10 points, nine of which came in the first half. Derrick Robinson paced Coastal Carolina with 15 points and Kelvin Coggins added 12.

A 16-to-five run in the first half would break open a 6-6 ball game, as Radford would take an 11 point lead, 22-11 with 9:38 left until intermission. The Highlanders would extend that lead to as much as 22 points, three times, to take a 40-18 lead into the half.

Radford would come out of the break and build their lead to 28, 49-21, just 3:13 into the half. RU would sustain a 20-point or more lead for a majority of the half. Coastal would make a run at the Highlanders, cutting the RU lead to 15 points on two separate occasions, but Radford would not let them get any closer and cruise to their sixth league victory of the season.
